Focus on Your Dreams
How to focus on your dream when life shows evidence that you're far from it? Here are five ways to develop the focus that will fuel your momentum.
"To accomplish great things,
we must
not only act,
but also dream, not only plan,
but also believe."
~Anatole France
1. Suspend your disbelief about your dreams being attainable. Put it on the shelf and open yourself to actually experience new ways of creating positive momentum toward realizing your dreams. The most limiting factor is to think that because something is simple, it won't work. When you buy into this, you have either just placed a tremendous bolder in front of you or veered off your path completely.
2. Imagine Consciously. The conscious aspect involved in imagining on purpose is very important. When we feel pushed down by the density of the hardships of life, we're imagining very powerfully, to our detriment - actually, we're really imagining backwards. When we use imagination in this way, we get more and more of that density we would want to be rid of.

Universal laws cannot be denied, nor can the physical law of Gravity be denied. Believe in gravity or not, it's always in operation. The Law of Attraction (what we place our attention to, increases) is one such law. When you're imagining everything that can go wrong because what has gone wrong has been in your field of attention, it of course takes you backward and further away from how you really want to live. This is using your imagination backward, keeping you far away from what you're longing for.

Consciously decide to use your imagination differently, consciously, to your advantage. Imaging what you do want without paying attention to the ABSENCE of it's existence. Imagine what it will feel like as though it's taking place right now, this moment. You are actually paving the road ahead, experiencing it, then remembering it like remembering a luscious memory with all the good feelings encompassed within that memory. The mind and the body both recall a memory as though it's taking place this moment. This brings us to...
3. Daydream.  Yes, daydream... a valuable way to use your imagination - like imagination-lite! Day-dreaming helps you build that bridge from where you are to where you want to be. Remember being scolded by your teacher for daydreaming? You do not need to listen to those voices as an adult.  Daydreaming on purpose, taking a few moments throughout your day, can be the respite that will rejuvenates you when you need a boost - go to the restroom if you're at the office and take a minute or two to daydream.  NOTE: If you overdo it and your boss calls me, well, we'll see if your boss starts adding this little respite to their day. When you daydream, make sure you're actually FEELING that life you'd like to be living.
4. Direct your attention toward the positive about yourself. This is very different and far beyond positive thinking. Deciding to look for what's positive about you and your life:
  • changes your focus toward what is right in your life at this moment
  • reminds you of the abundance you currently have
  • shifts your thoughts and feelings toward gratitude rather than lack

Finding just one thought that feels better than the last, even a little better, will help you focus forward to another thought. Then make sure to put as much emphasis on feeling that positive aspect as fully as possible. When your thoughts and feelings are aligned with what you aspire to, you've take the first half of the action to move forward; the second half of action is inspired action.  Inspired actions are actions you can't wait to take. There is no fear or trepidation in the mix. Inspired action are steps you can't wait to take, because you're charged, excited and can't wait to see what unfolds.
5. Be Engaged. Fully. Feel what you want to be living, believe in yourself and practice feeling it more often. There's no need to wait; actually, this now moment is the best time to begin (it always is). Use your physical senses: see, hear, touch, smell, taste fully so the experience is visceral.  Strong emotion is the glue that holds the thoughts and transforms the energy of what you imagine.

Are you grateful for how you feel as you imagine your dream realized?

A little Secret: Gratitude will speed your manifestation
"The best
and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched
-they must be felt with the heart.”

~Helen Keller
