Focus ... Using Distractions
Distractions can steer you away from living a life fuller and richer than you ever dreamed. Distractions could also lead you to take another look at where you want to be.
That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.
~Steve Jobs
We can use distractions consciously, as a signal, to get us back on track.

Imagine taking a walk in the woods. It's a beautiful day, there's nothing going on for a few hours,  and you're very relaxed, just strolling on a gently winding path. You're really relaxed, you notice the sounds around you and the air is just right. You step over tree limbs and around rocks. There's a stream over there and the sound draws your attention. Suddenly you wonder how refreshing a drink from that stream would be right now.

I'm sure it would be a comfort to see signs along the way to guide you through the forest. It would also be comforting to see signs ahead in our daily lives also.
As I look inside myself,
I see with
 understanding what shows up
outside myself.

Stop yourself from expending so much energy succumbing to distractions and berating yourself when you do.

Use your negative thoughts and feelings when they come up as places to start moving from - you will more often notice yourself focusing on good feeling thoughts that spark you to take that inspired action you feel so good about.
Now when I'm distracted, most any view in my office has a sign to guide or re-direct me to be where I want to be going. Notice: it brings me back to be where I want to be going. For instance, If I began editing a script for either one of my H.O.P.E. Guidance or Platinum clients, showing them where their vision could benefit from more clarity, and I get sidetracked or pulled away from being what I was doing, when I look up, there's a sign that reminds me to get back to where I want to "be" with my client. Having well-placed signs untethers me from distractions, which is so much more gentle (and powerful) than berating myself for getting sidetracked. The signs alleviate those "nonsense negatives" and I happily continue on, usually with more energy and fervor in the energy of my work.
Distract: to draw away or divert, as the mind or attention; to provide a pleasant diversion.
Distraction: that which divides attention or prevents concentration; that which amuses, entertains, or diverts

So play with those distractions... be more aware of what habit of thought draws you away from your the forward steps you're taking. It may be new for you to take these steps so be gentle with yourself as you notice how distractions "capture" you. Recognize there is a duality in virtually everything and you will watch what you once thought was a wall in your way become a stepping stone toward what you create.
